Families Find Different Approaches for Christmas Decorating

Soon enough it will be Christmas with all the candy gingerbread houses decorated with icing and gumdrops roofs, Christmas trees limbs sparkling with ornaments of all colors. During this time of the year a lot of joy comes around! Christmas is coming up soon so there is a lot to plan for and to set up in order for the Christmas holiday to become a  jolly part of the year! 

A lot of people will decorate with just putting up a christmas tree but some will take it to the max. “We decorate the house with lights, and set up a real Christmas tree and put up Santa dolls in the kitchen and decorate the kitchen with garland, red and green streamers ,and place a bell on the door. We even put up a mistletoe. We spend the most time in the kitchen, because that’s where the heart of the home is,” said Emily Issacs, a junior at Great Crossing High School. 

Another extreme decorator Tyler Davis, a junior at Mount Brook High School in Alabama stated, “I put up wreaths, Christmas trees, a bunch of plastic snowmen outside, and Christmas lights everywhere, and tiny statues inside the house.” 

Others like to keep it simple, “We put up a Christmas tree but that is about it, we don’t really feel it is necessary to do anything else. Since all we need is the Christmas tree to put presents under,” said Samuel Fueda, a freshman at Great Crossing. 

Everyone will vary when they start to set up for Christmas. Some will decorate before Thanksgiving, “I normally will set up after halloween,” says Davis. “My family loves to celebrate Christmas so I guess it is kinda hard to wait so long for decorating. And to add on that we do have a lot of decorations to set up. If we start late,we may not be able to finish in time.”
